Search warrant execution in Middlesboro nets two for conspiracy to sell drugs

Thursday night October 20, 2022, at approximately 10:20pm, Middlesboro Police officers lead by Ryan Collins executed a search warrant on a Brentwood Circle residence in reference to a wanted man identified as 37-year-old Benjamin Collins. Collins had outstanding warrants for failure to appear and a probation violation. It was also believed that he had suspected Methamphetamine for sale.

Once on scene, Officer Collins states that a strong odor of burning Marijuana was coming from the home. After knocking and announcing their presence, the officers made entry into the home finding Benjamin “Peanut” Collins and 36-year-old Donovan Shown upstairs in a bedroom.

During the search, officers located a box containing a digital scale, multiple distribution bags, and a black container that held several pre-loaded syringes with a substance. In another bedroom was found more pre-loaded syringes and a cell phone unlocked and in plain view belonging to Shown showing evidence of suspected drug trafficking messages. A precut line of an unknown powdery substance and a black scoop with a crystal like substance believed to be Methamphetamine was also found on a dresser. Inside a safe was a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana and approximately (10) ten Suboxone pills. Shown was found to be in possession of a counterfeit $100 bill.

Both men were arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.

Benjamin Collins was charged with conspiracy to traffic in controlled substance – 1st offense, deliver or manufacture of drug paraphernalia and he was served a warrant for the probation violation and failure to appear warrant for trafficking controlled substance – Methamphetamine and possession of controlled substance.

Donovan Shown was charged with conspiracy to traffic in controlled substance – 1st offense, delivery or manufacture of drug paraphernalia, and criminal possession of a forged instrument – 1st degree.

No bond has been set for either man.

Also assisting on scene was Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, Officer Ben Spurlock and Officer Jake Partin.
