Traffic stop leads to arrest and then more charges for threatening officer and his family

Sunday night March 1, 2020 at approximately 11:20pm, Middlesboro Officer Jeremiah Johnson observed a gray Dodge Charger traveling on Winchester Avenue and abruptly turned onto 43rd street.

Officer Johnson initiated a traffic stop on south 43rd and made contact with the driver, 30-year-old Jason Clark of Middlesboro.

In the citation Officer Johnson states that Clark exited the vehicle before being asked pushing the door into him and was argumentative, loud, and cursing during standard field sobriety tests which he failed. Officer Johnson also states he smelled the odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle and Clark.

While being transported to Middlesboro ARH for a blood test, Clark began threatening the officer which continued while being taken to the Bell County Detention Center. Clark also made threats involving Officer Johnson’s wife and family.

He was lodged and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs – 1st offense, no registration plates, failure to maintain insurance, license to be in possession, disorderly conduct – 2nd degree, menacing, and two counts of terroristic threatening – 3rd degree.
