6th person arrested connected to Mboro business owner charged gambling, drugs, & organized crime

On July 12, 2019, 48 year old George Fisher was arrested by ANI Detectives of Middlesboro charged with Promoting Gambling 1st Degree, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree and Engaging in Organized Crime – Criminal Syndicate. He was indicted on those charges on August 7, 2019.


Since Fisher’s arrest five other individuals have been charged in connection with this case and a sixth was arrested on Friday, January 31, 2020. 43 year old Michael Green of Middlesboro was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st degree (methamphetamine, greater than or equal to 2 ounces) and Engaging in Organized Crime – Criminal Syndicate.



The other individuals arrested and charged are:

* Chris Carroll (43, Middlesboro) was arrested on August 14, 2019 for Engaging in Organized Crime – Criminal Syndicate, three counts of Promoting Gambling 1st degree and Persistent Felony Offender, 2nd degree.


* David Strunk (46, Middlesboro) was arrested on August 14, 2019 on one county of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree (methamphetamine, less than 2 ounces), three counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree (methamphetamine, greater than or equal to 2 ounces) and Engaging in Organized Crime – Criminal Syndicate.


* India Mason (29, Middlesboro) was arrested on September 19, 2019 for Promoting Gambling 1st degree and Engaging in Organized Crime – Criminal Syndicate.


*Tanya Daniels (48, Middlesboro) was arrested on August 25, 2019 for Engaging in Organized Crime – Criminal Syndicate.


*Eric Norris (29, Middlesboro) was arrested on August 13, 2019 for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st degree.


To date, the seven individuals associated with this case have been arrested and/or indicted on a total of 25 felony charges. These cases are the result of a lengthy investigation by Appalachia Narcotics Investigations into illegal gambling, illegal drug trafficking and organized crime in Bell County. ANI was assisted by the Middlesboro Police Department during the investigation and in the execution of the follow-up arrest warrants.


Appalachia Narcotics Investigations is a multi-agency narcotics investigative unit consisting of Detectives from the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office, Bell County Sheriff’s Office, Pineville Police Department and the Kentucky State Police.


This case is still ongoing and more arrests will be made in the future.

As a side note George Fisher is still facing two attempted murder charges, violation of a DVO, and convicted felon in possession of a handgun charges. The charges stem from a June 4, 2019 incident when he shot at his estranged wife and another man inside a residence. He was being held on a combined total cash bond of $600,000, but posted bond on November 4, 2019.
