Domestic complaint call turns into trafficking charges for three in Bell County

From WRIL -

On Tuesday October 27, 2020 Kentucky State Trooper Joey Brigmon was assisting Bell County Sheriff’s Department on a domestic complaint in the Polly Hollow area of Middlesboro. While looking for a male subject at the residence involved in domestic assault, Tpr. Brigmon located several bags of a green leafy substance in a box believed to be Marijuana.

After finding the Marijuana, Tpr. Brigmon gained verbal consent from the residents to search the room which yielded several bags more of a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana.

The trooper states in the citations that all parties who live in the downstairs portion the home were read their Miranda rights and chose to speak to him without their attorneys.

Inside the home was 39 year old Stephanie Estes of Middlesboro, 34 year old Timothy Adam Burchfield also of Middlesboro, and 47 year old Sam Burchfield of New Tazewell, Tn. All three admitted they knew about the Marijuana being in the home and also stated they knew it was not for personal use.

They were all lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with trafficking in Marijuana over 5lbs. – 1st offense and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia.
