Driver killed in fatal Maynardville crash identified

The driver killed in a crash involving two vehicles in Union County Wednesday has been identified.


According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, Claiborne graduate 18-year-old Colin Fischer was killed when his vehicle crossed over the centerline and struck a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

Fischer was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.


The driver of the other vehicle was cited for driving on a suspended license. Two passengers in the other vehicle were injured. Their conditions are unknown at the time.


TDOT SmartWay first reporting the crash on state route 33 near Halls and Maynardville at 6:18 p.m. in that both directions of traffic were blocked and being redirected to alternate routes.
