Fatal fire in Bell County involving a grandmother and three children - UPDATED

There was a tragic fire in Bell County just off of Highway 217 on Hurst Hollow Road Tuesday morning January 7, 2020. The fire was reported to Bell County Dispatch at 3:28am.


Upon arrival, first responders located four people deceased inside the residence.


Kentucky State Police and Bell County Deputy Coroner Don Horton confirm that those dying in the fire are a grandmother with custody of her three grandchildren. They have been identified as 59 year old Beulah Faye Mullins, 12 year old Sierra Posey, 11 year old Cynthia Posey and 8 year old Shawn Posey all from Hutch, Ky.


Kentucky State Police say that at this time, no foul play is suspected. KSP Arson Investigators responded to the scene to assist with the investigation which is standard in any fire involving a deceased person.


The cause of the fire has not been determined and may take some time. Bell County Deputy Coroner Don Horton tells WRIL that positive identification has yet to be determined and that autopsies will be taking place in Frankfort.


Initially responding to the scene was Bell County Sheriff's Department, Bell County Volunteer Fire Department, Bell County EMS, Middlesboro Fire/EMS, and Kentucky State Police.


Kentucky State Police are in charge of this investigation.
