Former district one Bell County Constable facing a sexual offense charge
From WRIL -
According to a citation, on Thursday April 25, 2019 at approximately 2:00pm Kentucky State Trooper Justin Barton responded to a complaint call at a residence on Old Pineville Pike.
Once making contact with the female complainant the trooper was advised that 74 year old Creed Barnett Jr. of Middlesboro came to her residence on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at 9:00am.
The woman also stated that Barnett came inside the residence and started sexually abusing her by touching and kissing her.
Trooper Barton states that the woman said Barnett gave her thirty dollars and told her not to tell anyone. The woman was determined not to have the capacity to give consent to the act.
Creed Barnett Jr. is lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with sexual abuse - 1st degree. He is being held without bond.
Barnett was constable for district one in 2002 and 2010 - both four year terms - and lost a re-election bid in the 2018 May primary.
