Former KSP Trooper arrested on theft charges in Harlan

WRIL has learned that a former Kentucky State Trooper has been arrested on theft charges out of Harlan. 39 year old James Earl Hensley of Harlan was booked into the Harlan County Detention Center today at 2:13pm by KSP Detective Bunch.


We have obtained the arrest citation stating that KSP DESI Detective B. Graves determined that from January 2017 through December 31, 2018 while acting as the Harlan Little League President, James Earl Hensley unlawfully used funds belonging to the little league for his own personal gain.


The citation states that the amount of the purchases were in excess of over $1,000.


Hensley has been lodged and charged with theft by unlawful taking $500 or more but under $10,000. He was given a $10,000 bond and released on 10% bail credit posting $1,000.
