Kentucky State Police conducting a death investigation after a body was found in Harlan County

From Kentucky State Police Post 10 -

On Thursday Morning, May 11, 2023, KSP Post 10 Dispatch received a call at 4:45am in regard to an individual in physical distress unconscious and not breathing between the Smith community and Catron's Creek in Harlan County.


Public Information Trooper Shane Jacobs tells WRIL that KSP Trooper Jake Spurlock responded to the scene and found an individual who stated he had performed CPR on the unresponsive man, but had to previously leave the area to get cellphone signal to make the 911 call. After observing the body of the individual in question, the trooper then requested assistance from the Harlan County Coroner's Office. Coroner Derrick Noe arrived and declared the individual deceased at 6:30am.


The man's family was contacted and he has been identified as 37-year-old Joshua Noe of Cawood. At this time his body has been sent for an autopsy to be performed. As this is an active investigation by KSP, more information will be released as the investigation continues.
