Kettle Island man charged with endangering lives at a Pineville residence

From The Bell County Sheriff's Department -

William Brock - BCDC

On Sunday, February 13, 2022, at approximately 6:44am, K-9 Sgt. Adam Southern was dispatched to an Elliott Lane residence in reference to a possible intoxicated male subject seeking medical treatment.

Once on scene Sgt. Southern was walked up to the residence where he observed a female standing on the porch acting as if she was panicked. The sergeant then observed a man, identified as 25-year-old William Brock of Kettle Island Kentucky standing in the doorway, holding two knives.

As the sergeant continued to approach the residence, Brock began screaming, slammed the door, and locked the dead bolt. The woman told the sergeant: “my babies are inside, please do something, I don’t know who this man is". Due to potential danger to those inside the residence, Sgt. Southern then kicked the door down and entered the home. He found Brock standing in the middle of the living room holding both knives up in front of him repeatedly yelling “come on". This happened while children were on a couch in the room directly behind Brock.

Sgt. Southern then deployed his taser successfully gaining Brock’s compliance and he was immediately placed under arrest. Due to a self-inflicted laceration to his throat, Brock was transported to Pineville Community Health Center’s emergency room for treatment of his injury and when released, taken to the Bell County Detention Center.

William Brock was charged with wanton endangerment - 1st degree (police officer), wanton endangerment, criminal mischief - 2nd degree, burglary, and resisting arrest. He was also served a parole violation.
