Probation violator found by Bell Deputies with drugs, scales, and a gun

On Wednesday night October 13, 2021, at 7:26pm Bell County K-9 Deputy Adam Southern along with deputies Austin Poindexter, Frank Foster, Derrick Widner, and Chaplain Ricky Dorton, with prior knowledge of an individual with a probation violation, traveled to a residence on Ernie Mason Road in Pineville. Once on scene, the individual identified as 35-year-old Josh Miller of Pineville saw the deputies and took off running through his residence carrying a handgun. The deputies saw Miller lying on the floor in an attempt to hide from them and verbal commands were given to show his hands and open the door. Miller complied and was taken into custody without further incident. In plain view where Miller had been laying were two empty syringes with residue. After a search incident to arrest, he was found in possession of a large bag of a crystal-like substance believed to be Methamphetamine, a set of digital scales, empty containers with crystal residue, syringes, a small bag of Marijuana, and a Taurus handgun. Josh Miller was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – 1st degree, 2nd offense or greater (greater than 2 grams Methamphetamine), buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, possession of Marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and he was served a warrant for absconding.
