Middlesboro & Pineville, KY – The EdVenture Group, along with EntreEd, the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education, recently held a workshop on the Pineville Campus of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKCTC). During this professional development session, over 70 local educators engaged in hands-on learning activities to show them how to easily integrate entrepreneurship into any subject area or grade level.
According to Sherri Clark, Director of Workforce Solutions at Southeast, participants represented seven area high schools: Bell County, Harlan County, Knox County, Middlesboro Independent, Pineville Independent, Harlan Independent, and Barbourville Independent.
Middlesboro teacher Dawn Proffitt, who attended the workshop, says that entrepreneurship education does more than teach students how to run a business. “It fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for them to be productive contributors to society, which is why I use such training opportunities to enrich the English classroom,” she says.
Clark says that she was pleased with the large turnout for this event. “At Southeast, we value the partnerships we have built with our local schools. Sharing ideas through EntreEd and the EdVenture Group allows us to enrich the lives of even more students.”
