Thursday morning July 24, 2025, at approximately 1:13 am Bell County deputies were conducting a pre-approved traffic safety checkpoint at the junction of KY 221 and KY 66.

During the operation, a black Escalade came through the checkpoint. Deputy Samson Churchwell made contact with the driver of the vehicle, 33-year-old Genesia York of Pineville. While speaking with her, the deputy observed she had pinpoint pupils and glossy eyes. Consent to search the vehicle was then asked and granted.

The search yielded a black and silver scale used to weigh illegal drugs with a crystal-like residue believed to be Methamphetamine, found under the York's driver's side seat.

While the search continued, Deputy Churchwell asked and consent was given to conduct a standardized field sobriety and ARIDE test, which indicated York was under the influence of substances.

During the tests, the deputy observed a bulge in York's chest area. After being asked what it was, York pulled out the contents revealing a black and silver scale with multiple white oval pills believed to be Hydrocodone and 2 syringes.

Genesia York was then taken into custody and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with:
