On Friday evening May 17, 2019 at approximately 5:38 pm Claiborne County Detectives were called to a residence on Cumberland Estates Road in Cumberland Gap, Tn for a domestic assault.
Detectives responded to the scene where they discovered a male subject with gunshot wounds. After further investigation, 44 year old Daniel Ely of Cumberland Gap, Tn was charged with Criminal Homicide in the shooting death of his father 75 year old Ren David Ely.
Lead Detective Chris Cardwell assisted by Detective Tim Shrout, Lt. Tammy Reagan along with Sheriff Bob Brooks investigated the case.
Daniel Ely is pending arraignment and being held in the Claiborne County jail.
