A Lexington woman has been charged in connection to a fatal wreck that occurred on Tates Creek Road early Friday morning July 5th. 24 year old Sequoyah Collins formerly of Bell County, is charged with Driving Under the Influence.

Around 3 a.m. Friday, July 5, Lexington Police officers were dispatched to a serious collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Tates Creek Road and Lansdowne Drive.

Collins was driving outbound Tates Creek in a Lexus passenger car. The other vehicle was an Acura passenger car occupied by two adults and four children ranging in age from 9 to 12.

According to witnesses, Collins was driving at a high rate of speed.  She was seen running a red light, striking the other car that was attempting to turn left from Tates Creek onto Lansdowne. All six occupants of the Acura were transported to a hospital, and one of the children has died from their injuries. Collins was not seriously injured and was placed under arrest.
