Fire related death in Middlesboro

From WRIL

There was a structure fire this morning at 7:24am in Middlesboro at 24th Street and Chester Avenue. Responding to the scene was the Middlesboro Fire Department and EMS along with the Police Department.

While the police department worked the scene, the police department blocked off connector streets.

We had initially reported one person was being flown from Middlesboro for injuries sustained in the fire, but that was cancelled.

Bell County Deputy Coroner Don Horton tells WRIL that he received a call at 9:14am this morning from the Middlesboro ARH Emergency Room. Horton says that an individual was taken from the scene by Middlesboro Fire/EMS to the hospital and passed away in the ambulance.

After notifying the family, Deputy Coroner Horton has identified the man as 28 year old Trey Branscome. Horton also states that protocol dictates that Branscome's body will be transported to Frankfort for further evaluation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the arson investigator.

Our prayers are with the family of Trey.
