On Sunday January 5, 2019 A Union County Tennessee Sheriff’s Deputy was flagged down by a Middlesboro man identified as Ralph Mayes III.
Mayes requested assistance from the deputy stating he thought he purchased a stolen vehicle. Once the deputy ran the vehicle through NCIC, it returned as stolen out of Claiborne County.
During the incident, the deputy discovered that Mayes had an outstanding warrant out of Kentucky for theft by deception and robbery.
The Sheriff’s Department states that Mayes was arrested without incident and transported to the Union County Jail. During the booking process he was found to be in possession of an illegal substance.
Ralph Mayes III was served his outstanding warrant and additionally charged with introduction of contraband into a penal facility among other charges.
