Former Middlesboro man killed in Allen County Ky shooting - family looking for answers

According to a release from the Allen County Kentucky Sheriff's Office, 23-year-old Matthew Mills formerly of Middlesboro was killed in a shooting incident that took place on Sunday December 5, 2021.
The release states that at approximately 6:30 pm the sheriff's office responded to the Old Gainsville Road area of Scottsville, Kentucky. The call was in response to an incident involving a shooting that took place outside a residence.
Once on scene deputies found that Matthew Mills had been shot. Allen County EMS attempted to treat Mills on scene and he was transported to the Scottsville Medical Center due to his injuries, but he was later pronounced deceased.
The Allen County - Scottsville Crime Task Force is currently investigating the incident.
WRIL has had contact with at least one family member and we are attempting to follow up on this case. We do know at least one person has been questioned in connection with this incident, but had only been charged with violating an EPO order. That individual was released from jail, but did not show up for his next court appearance according to records.
