UPDATE: Inmate caught after walking away from Bell County Forestry Camp

James Baker was apprehended Monday morning October, 2, 2023 by BCFC staff at 9:32 a.m. approximately seven miles from the prison. He was taken into custody without incident and transported back to the prison. He will be charged with escape. Kentucky State Police Post 10 in Harlan is handling the investigation.

32-year-old James Baker of Lexington, Ky. walked away from the Bell County Forestry Camp located in the Frakes community. He was first reported missing at 6pm. He is described as a white male 5' 10, 195 lbs. with black hair and green eyes.


He was serving a seven year sentence for robbery and theft by unlawful taking under $10,000. He would have been eligible for parole in September 2025.
