Maynardville man in jail after crashing his vehicle into utility pole and fleeing the scene

From the Tazewell Police Department -

Robert Malnar - CCJ

An overnight crash around midnight on Monday, March 7, 2023, in front of Tazewell City Hall occurred after a driver left the roadway on U.S. Highway 25e at the intersection of State Route 33. The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and went straight through the intersection uphill snapping a light pole on Main Street in two in front of city hall. Had it not been for the light pole, the driver more than likely would’ve struck the building.
