From WRIL -
In Bell County District Court today (Wednesday, February 5, 2020) L & M Ventures and Sagebrush Steakhouse in Middlesboro were once again on the docket for eviction proceedings.
Late last year Sagebrush, owned by Claremont Restaurant Group in Mooresville, North Carolina was given eviction papers by the owners of the building on Highway 25E in Middlesboro in November 2019 and failed to leave the building. This lack of action caused L & M Ventures to file a forcible detainer complaint for eviction against Sagebrush at the Bell Circuit Clerk's Office in Pineville.
That filing lead to a court hearing date on December 18th of last year, but just before the appearance, L & M Ventures filed a motion "to pass" on the eviction. The reason was never made public.
Wednesday no one showed up for the court hearing on behalf of Sagebrush, but the attorney for L & M Ventures was present and was seeking forcible eviction once again based on the lack of agreed payment of rent for more than three months. Bell District Judge Robert Yoakum signed the order which orders Sagebrush to vacate the building in (7) seven days.
In recent months Sagebrush restaurants in the company have been closed permanently, namely Corbin, Kentucky and Rogersville, Tennessee.
