Tazewell man indicted on sex offenses in Claiborne County facing over 100 counts against children

On Wednesday, September 13, 2023 a Claiborne County Grand Jury was convened and returned an indictment charging 32-year-old Daniel Jack Goins of Tazewell with five counts of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a child and one count of Aggravated Rape.


Goins was indicted in April of 2020 and was awaiting trial on more than one hundred plus counts of various crimes against children.


A very lengthy investigation conducted by Tazewell Police Department, Lt. Detective Josh Fields, Chief Jeremy Myers, and New Tazewell Police Department, Lt. Detective Gary Ruszkowski led to multiple victims now in various locations.


All information gathered from the investigation was forwarded to 8th Judicial District Attorney Jared Effler’s office and presented to the grand jury resulting in the listed indictments.


After indictments were handed down it was discovered through investigation that Daniel Jack Goins was no longer in Tazewell, Tn., and was currently in Kokomo, Indiana.


Through coordination with the Tazewell Police Department, and the Howard County Sheriff’s Office in Kokomo, Indiana, Goins was subsequently arrested and held for extradition.


On Wednesday, September 20th Tazewell Police Chief Myers, and Lieutenant-Detective Fields traveled to Indiana and returned Goins to Claiborne County to be arraigned before 8th Judicial District Criminal Court Judge Honorable Zachary Walden to face all awaiting charges.


He is lodged in the Claiborne County Jail.
