Traffic stop yields handgun and more, then another charge after jail staff finds drugs

Savannah Szemak - BCDC

On Wednesday, September 16, 2020 Middlesboro Police Officer Ryan Collins conducted a traffic stop on 23 year old Savannah Szemak of Middlesboro for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop Szemak was found to be under a probation violation warrant for her arrest. A search incident to arrest revealed a handgun in her possession.


Officer Collins also discovered in Szemak's possession was suspected Marijuana, numerous empty plastic baggies, digital scales, and $167.00 in cash. She was also found to be in possession of (6) six grams of suspected heroin by the staff at the Bell County Detention Center while being booked in.


Savannah Szemak was charged with a probation violation warrant, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, trafficking in Marijuana less than eight ounces, failure to maintain insurance, no/expired registration plates, promoting contraband, and trafficking in controlled substance - 1st degree - (Heroin).
