Two arrested with guns and drugs after traffic stop in Claiborne County

From The Claiborne County Sheriff's Department -

On Thursday, January 13th, 2022, The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit initiated a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 25E. During the investigation Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Deputy’s located three firearms and narcotics. As a result of the traffic stop 41-year-old Gary Raymond Mirkos of Rogersville Tennessee and 34-year-old Anna Marie Painter of Speedwell Tennessee were arrested.


Gary Raymond Mirkos was charged with three counts of Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon and Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance.


Anna Marie Painter was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance (Heroin) and Possession of a Firearm during a Dangerous Felony. Further investigation revealed one firearm was stolen from Scott County Virginia.


This is a ongoing investigation with more charges expected in the future.
