Laurel Sheriff's Detective Kyle Gray along with Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards, Deputy Tommy Houston, Deputy Shannon Jones, Deputy Jamie Etherton, and Deputy Robert Reed arrested three adults and detained two juveniles early Sunday morning September 8, 2019 at approximately 2:39 AM.

The five individuals were taken into custody after deputies were dispatched to a disturbance complaint off Paris Karr Road. When deputies arrived at the scene they located a female subject outside the residence along with a male subject near a Nissan Sentra that had been reported to have left scene and returned. While conducting an investigation with the female subject, she became belligerent with deputies who detected the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from her.

The victim was transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to Baptist Healthcare hospital and then airlifted to a Louisville hospital last reported on a ventilator with serious head trauma. Some recordings - both text messages and videos - were recovered depicting or describing the assault. One male juvenile intentionally deleted a video of the assault.
