A Middlesboro Disturbance Call At A Business Leads To A Chase And Arrest

On Friday, September 5, 2025, Officers of the Middlesboro Police Department responded to Lee’s BP located at 3800 W. Cumberland Avenue in reference to a problem with a customer, who was causing a disturbance. The customer was later identified as 43-year-old Joshua Cook of Middlesboro.


Upon Officer’s arrival, and while police were attempting to gather information, Cook fled the scene in a vehicle operating under a suspended operator’s license. Middleboro Officer John Kinder attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Cook. After disregarding Officer Kinder’s attempt to stop him, Cook led Officer Kinder on a vehicle pursuit which ended at an Exeter Avenue residence. A brief stand-off then followed before Officers affected the arrest.


Joshua Cook was then lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with an outstanding warrant for his arrest, fugitive from another state, fleeing or evading police - 1st degree, operating on suspended or revoked operators’ license, resisting arrest, and several traffic violations.


Officer John Kinder is in charge of the investigation. He was assisted by Captain Joe Holder, Officer Preston Saylor, and Sergeant Kenny Vanover.
