From the Tazewell Police Department

On Sunday March 10, 2019 Tazewell Police Officer Andrew Sturgill recorded a call about a suspicious male between Catdaddy’s Market and the Tazewell/ New Tazewell Fire Department attempting to gain entry into vehicles. Officer Sturgill began patrolling the area in an attempt to locate the male.
As he pulled around the fire station he noticed a bay door open on the station and the lights on on the ladder truck. Officer Sturgill encountered an individual behind the wheel of the ladder truck and the engine running. He found the defendant to be Johnathan Scott Rodriguez.
Rodriguez had a stolen fuel card from the fire department and informed Officer Sturgill that he owned the fire department and the truck. The defendant was obviously intoxicated.
Officer Sturgill made contact with T.N.T. Fire Chief Josh Miracle who also resides in the fire station. Chief Miracle stated the male was not a member of the department.
Mr. Rodriguez was arrested for Attempted Theft over $250,000.00, Aggravated Burglary, and Theft under $1,000.00 and lodged in the Claiborne County Jail.
