Artemus women indicted on sexual offenses

From the Times Tribune

Loa Ethel Davis - KCDC

An Artemus woman who was indicted late last year on several sexual-related charges involving her children has once again been indicted in connection to the alleged incidents along with two Artemus men.

Lora Ethel Davis, 28; Joseph Robert Davis, 29 (who was reported as being taken into custody Tuesday January 29, 2019) ; and James M. Davis, 23, were each named in a 10-count indictment Friday for charges that allegedly occurred on multiple occasions throughout 2015.

Count one through three of the indictment charges Lora Davis, Joseph Davis and James Davis with first-degree sodomy. Count four through six charges Lora Davis, Joseph Davis and James Davis with first-degree sexual abuse. Count seven through nine charges Lora Davis, Joseph Davis and James Davis with first-degree criminal abuse. Count 10 charges Joseph Davis and James Davis with first-degree rape.

On Sept.16, 2018, Lora Davis contacted the Knox County Dispatch Center asking to speak with an officer, allegedly stating she needed to make a complaint against herself. She then allegedly told police that she had sodomized her children three to four years ago. Her arrest citation states that she decided to make her admission because “she needed to go to jail so her kids could have justice.”

Following an investigation, she was arrested and later indicted in November 2018 on three counts of first-degree sodomy. Through further investigation, Joseph Davis and James Davis were also found to be involved in the alleged incidents. According to the indictment, at least three children were involved in the alleged incidents, with their ages at the time being roughly 6, 5 and 4. Lora Davis currently remains jailed in the Leslie County Detention Center. James Davis is currently jailed in the Knox County Detention Center. No jail records could be found for Joseph Davis. An indictment is a formal charge by a grand jury; it is not a conviction or an admission of guilt.
