Scalf, Ky. Man Arrested For Cable and Internet Wire Theft in Knox County, Ky.

From the Knox County Ky Sheriff's Department -

On Monday, September 14, 2026, Knox County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a man driving a black truck taking internet wires and cables on KY 718 in Scalf. Deputies located a vehicle matching the description at a residence on KY 718.
After contacting the owner of the vehicle and conducting an investigation, deputies arrested 35-year-old John Bingham of Scalf, KY charging him with Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition-over $1,000.
On April 6, 2026 Knox County Deputies investigated a wire theft also in the Scalf area. During his investigation, John Bingham was identified as a perpetrator in this theft. An arrest warrant charging Bingham with Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition-over $10,000 was obtained as a result of this investigation.
Bingham was also wanted on a Kentucky Parole Board Warrant for a Parole Violation on a drug charge. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
In both thefts the wire consisted of fiber optic communication cable belonging to Spectrum and Windstream. The investigation is continuing by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and additional arrests are expected.
