Barbourville Man In Jail After Threatening to Kill a Woman and Discharging a Firearm

On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, Knox County deputies were executing an arrest warrant at a residence located at 70 School Street in Barbourville. The homeowner and 40-year-old Robert Williams gave verbal permission to search the home.


During the search, a clear bag of suspected Marijuana was found in a dresser in the bedroom Williams was staying in, along with white oval pills in a pair of his pants. Inside a safe that Williams had the keys to, clear bags of suspected Methamphetamine were found.


The complaint warrant states that a female victim told police that Robert Williams was recently released from jail on January 9th on bond. The victim says when he came home, “he grabbed an AK-47, carrying it around saying he was going to ‘massacre’ his whole family.”


The victim further stated that Williams had been pointing guns at her, had been standing in his bedroom, and shot through the door. She added that Williams had threatened to kill her several times and that she was afraid of him, fully believing he would follow through on the threats.


Robert Williams was arrested and lodged in the Knox Cunty Detention Center charged with

Illegal possession of a legend drug, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense (Methamphetamine).


In the complaint warrant, he was charged with Terroristic threatening – 3rd degree and Wanton endangerment – 1st degree – discharge of a firearm.


He is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
