From The Harlan Enterprise -
A teenager was recently arrested after police found a revolver to be in his possession while under the influence and operating an ATV.
Dylan Thomas, 18, of Cawood, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office deputy Cody Bargo on Jan. 28.
According to the citation, Thomas passed a vehicle while operating an ATV on KY 840 and failed to stop when the deputy activated his lights and sirens. Thomas allegedly turned onto Chad Street in Loyall and eventually stopped near Green Street, where he dismounted the ATV and attempted to run.
After a short foot pursuit, Bargo apprehended Thomas and found a quart jar of an alcoholic beverage and a revolver to be in his possession. The officer said he also smelled strongly of alcohol and did not possess a valid operator’s license or a helmet.
Implied consent was read at Harlan ARH, where Thomas allegedly consented to all requested tests.
Thomas was charged with improper passing, first-degree fleeing/evading police (on foot), second-degree fleeing/evading police (motor vehicle), operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (under age 21), failure to comply with helmet law (under age 21) and no operator’s license.
Thomas was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $2,500 surety bond.
