Clay County traffic collision results in fatality

From the Kentucky State Police -

On Saturday night October 26, 2019 at approximately 10:21 PM, The Kentucky State Police Post 11, London was notified by Clay County 911 of a one vehicle injury accident on HWY 149 Lockards Creek Road in the Manchester area of Clay County. The collision resulted in one fatality.


The initial investigation indicates that a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Jose A. Montero, 48 years old of Manchester, KY, was traveling south on Highway 149 Lockards Creek Road. Mr. Montero lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center line and struck a deep ditch and the impact caused the vehicle to go airborne and over turn.


The Clay County Coroner pronounced Mr. Montero deceased at the scene at 11:12 PM. An autopsy was not requested.


No drugs or alcohol usage was suspected. Mr. Montero was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.


The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 11 Trooper Logon Wolfe. He was assisted at the scene by Post 11 Personnel, Lockard’s Creek Fire Department, Clay County EMS, and the Clay County Coroner Office.
