According to a citation, Kentucky State Police have charged 82-year-old David Holbrook in connection with a Tuesday night, November 3rd shooting.

The incident allegedly took place around 10 p.m. at a residence near KY-90.  This was during an argument with the victim, his wife, 70-year-old Gail Holbrook.

Gail Holbrook is said to have gone to a nearby neighbor’s home, saying she had been shot by her husband as she tried to leave.  Trooper Matt Ridener stated in the citation that Gail had a gunshot wound and was taken to Baptist Health Corbin Hospital and later flown to UK Medical Center.

After the shooting, David Holbrook barricaded himself in a bedroom of the home and further resisted arrest by responding law enforcement.

He was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center, charged with assault – 1st degree (domestic violence) and resisting arrest.   Records at the facility show he is being held without bond.

Holbrook is set to be arraigned on Thursday, November 5, in Whitley County District Court.
