Cumberland Kentucky Man Charged With Murder After Overnight Shooting

At 4:10am Saturday morning November 22, 2025, Kentucky State Police Post 10 troopers responded to a call in Cumberland, Kentucky at the Coldiron Branch Road residence of Brian Johnson.
Troopers discovered that Johnson had been shot in the face and Detective Andy Soltess determined that the shooter was identified as 45-year-old James Sizemore of Cumberland.
Brian Johnson was taken to the hospital were he was declared deceased.
James Sizemore was arrested a short time after 7:30 am Saturday morning on Highway 119 and lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center. Sizemore has been charged with Murder. What lead to the shooting has not been released yet.
Assiting on scene was Cumberland Police Department, Evarts Police Department, Harlan County Sheriff's Department and AMR Ambulance Service.
