On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, Knox County Deputy Michael Wilson responded to a complaint of a cellular telephone being stolen at Little Caesars restaurant in Barbourville.
After conducting an investigation, Deputy Wilson learned that a cellular telephone, valued at approximately $1,000 had been stolen from an employee at the restaurant and a suspect had been identified. The suspect was contacted on Facebook Messenger by the victim. The suspect confirmed she had taken the telephone and advised she would return it.
While looking for the suspect, Deputy Wilson was notified that the suspect was seen in a vehicle at Messer’s Market on US-25E in Barbourville. Deputy Wilson observed the vehicle traveling south on US- 25E and turning onto KY 3439. When Deputy Wilson approached the vehicle after conducting a traffic stop, the suspect immediately began cursing and yelling.
Paulette N. Allen age 37 of Flat Lick, KY , who was a passenger, refused to exit the vehicle at first, but did so when Deputy Wilson opened the door. When Deputy Wilson attempted to arrest her, she jerked away from him, ran back to the vehicle she was in, and hurriedly instructed the driver to leave. She refused to exit the vehicle again and Deputy Wilson had to remove her from the vehicle.
Allen was arrested and charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, Resisting Arrest, Menacing, Disorderly Conduct-2nd Degree, Public Intoxication/Controlled Substance, and Interfering with Peace Officer Required to Perform Duty.
Paulette Allen was also wanted on two Knox County Bench Warrants for failure to appear on Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition/Shoplifting, Criminal Mischeif-3rd Degree, and two counts of Contempt of Court charges.
She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
