Former Harlan constable arrested

From WYMT

Brandon Haynes - HCDC

As first reported on our social media and WYMT is now covering - a former Harlan County Constable was arrested and charged with 1st degree robbery earlier this week.

Officials with Kentucky State Police Post 10 arrested Brandon Haynes early Wednesday morning January 23, 2019 for a crime they say he committed some time last Monday January 14th.

Police say Haynes and another person entered a home with masks on and told the man inside they were taking everything he had.

Police say Haynes pulled out a 45 caliber handgun during the attempted robbery. Officials with KSP say Haynes and the other person involved admitted to planning the robbery. WYMT was told no items were taken during the robbery, however.

Haynes was arrested and brought to the Harlan County Detention Center where is being held on a $5,000 cash bond.

Officials in Harlan County say Haynes served one term as Constable in Harlan County from 2015-2018.

And because of several complaints against him, county officials say they had to remove the blue lights from Haynes' car while he was still an elected official.
