Four arrested after shooting in Laurel County

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Kyle Gray along with Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards arrested four individuals early Sunday morning December 22, 2019 at approximately 4:03 AM. The arrests occurred off Old KY 30 approximately 5 miles north of London as the Sheriff's office investigated a shooting which occurred at a residence there at 1:21 A.M.

When detectives and deputies arrived at the scene, they learned that a male subject there had been shot with a pistol in the chest. The victim was identified as Michael Bailey age 28 of East Bernstadt. The victim was flown to UK hospital Lexington for treatment, and was pronounced deceased there.

During the investigation at the scene investigators determined that numerous individuals there were convicted felons.

The arrested individuals were identified as:

44 year old Douglas Earl Bailey of East Bernstadt charged with assault – first-degree – domestic violence; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

38 year old Crystal Nicole Johnson of London charged with possession of firearm by a convicted felon.

46 year old James Brian Hart of East Bernstadt charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

50 year old Dewain N. Bailey has been charged with public ntoxication – controlled substances; disorderly conduct – second-degree.-This individual admitted taking meth prior to the shooting complaint.

All four arrested individuals were lodged in the Laurel County correctional center. Photos of accused attached are courtesy of the Laurel County correctional center.

An autopsy is scheduled in Frankfort for Monday. Assisting at the scene was Deputy Tommy Houston, Deputy Josh Morgan, Deputy Joey Robinson and Kentucky State Police. Also assisting was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, and East Bernstadt volunteer fire department.

Investigation is continuing. More charges are expected.
