From shoplifting to jail - Middlesboro

On Saturday afternoon December 29, 2018 a short time before 5pm Middlesboro Officer Michael Bradley responded to a call of a shoplifter at Belk Department store.


Once on scene the officer made contact with the store’s loss prevention employee and discovered that 53 year old Chuck Dewayne Bingham of Flat Lick had concealed $228.00 worth of merchandise then left the store. Officer Bradley’s citation also states that Bingham intentionally destroyed the merchandise to remove the anti-theft device.


Bingham was found to have a pair of wire cutters believed to be used to destroy the merchandise. He also had a foldable blade concealed inside his wallet.


Chuck Bingham was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with theft by unlawful taking under $500.00, criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.


He was also served a complaint warrant for harassing communications and terroristic threatening - 3rd degree. He is being held on a $2,000 cash bond. Also assisting was Officer Kenny Vanover also assisted.
