Sheriff Root reports Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Hunter Disney along with Sgt. Greg Poynter arrested 31 year old Dallas McVey of Gray, Ky on Friday afternoon February 15, 2019 at approximately 3:14 PM.
The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart’s loss prevention team detained McVey.
When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, they learned that allegedly McVey had attempted to leave the store with articles of clothing and a wristwatch without paying for the items. In addition, it was learned that he had outstanding bench warrants. Dallas McVey was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting under $500.
In addition, McVey was charged two Bell District Court bench warrants, one for failure to appear in court on charges of theft of services; alcohol intoxication in a public place, the other for failure to appear in court on charges of theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting under $500. He was lodged in the Laurel County detention center.
