A former Bell County teacher and assistant basketball coach pleaded guilty to federal charges. Investigators arrested Jordan Ryan Turner last year.
He admitted in federal court to asking underage teens for inappropriate pictures. Police said he asked two high school boys for nude photos through Facebook
Messenger. Turner faces up to 30 years in prison and a hefty fine. His sentencing is set for October 29th.
Turner was indicted Thursday, June 28, 2018 on federal charges of attempted production of child pornography along with receiving, distributing, and possessing child pornography.
Turner was originally arrested on April 9, 2018 by the Kentucky State Police on a state charge of using electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual activities. WRIL reported that a true bill on that charge was not returned by the Bell County grand jury in lieu of a federal criminal complaint being filed against Turner. Those charges were presented to the federal grand jury, which returned the indictment.
Turner was being held in the Bell County Detention Center until the federal indictment when he was transferred to the Laurel County Detention Center awaiting trial.
