From The Claiborne County Sheriff's Department -
On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division responded to 150 Payne Circle, Tazewell, TN regarding a structure fire in progress.
During the investigation, detectives discovered the human remains of two unidentified individuals.
The remains have been sent to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center for an autopsy and positive identification. The investigation into the identity of the remains and the cause of the structure fire is currently ongoing.
Also responding to the scene was the Claiborne EMS, Claiborne County Rescue Squad, Tazewell/New Tazewell Fire Department, and North Tazewell Volunteer Fire Department.
