Indictment for man accused of setting wife on fire

A Tennessee man has been indicted after authorities say he lit his wife on fire. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Todd Darrell Briggs of Gray was indicted earlier this month on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and aggravated arson. The sheriff’s office says deputies responded on Aug. 16 to investigate a woman hospitalized with second- and third-degree burns to her head, arms and torso. Deputies determined Briggs doused his wife and the bedroom floor with rubbing alcohol during an altercation at home. They say Briggs lit the rubbing alcohol on fire with a butane lighter, seriously burning his wife and damaging the home. He was booked into jail on a $50,000 bond this week. It wasn’t immediately clear if Briggs has an attorney to comment.
