Investigation leads to arrest of former Upper Cloverfork Fire Chief

On Friday, November 20, 2020 Deputies with the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office arrested the former Upper Cloverfork Fire Chief. The arrest was a result of an investigation involving fire department funds.


42 year old Adam Thomas, of Closplint was charged with 3 counts of Forgery 2nd Degree and Theft by Unlawful Taking over $10,000.


During a two year period, Thomas signed contracts using signatures of other fire department members and converted over $10,000 from Upper Cloverfork Fire Department for personal use and personal gain.


Thomas was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with no bond set. The case

remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
