From WRIL -
On Tuesday morning, February 7, 2023 at approximately 11:00am Middlesboro Police and Middlesboro EMS responded to a call from the BP station on 38th and Cumberland Avenue about a stabbing.
Once one scene, Middlesboro officers determined that the incident happened outside their jurisdiction in the county and the victim had traveled to the gas station to call for help.
Kentucky State Police were then contacted at 11:18am to investigate the incident and the victim was taken to the Middlesboro ARH Hospital just across the street.
KSP Public Affairs Trooper Shane Jacobs tells WRIL that Detective Jake Wilson determined 23-year-old Dakota Spencer of Middlesboro and 25-year-old Savannah Sanchez were in a domestic argument while in a vehicle travelling in the area. At some point, Sanchez stabbed Spencer in the arm during the argument. The couple then pulled into the BP station and Sanchez called for assistance.
No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed in the incident.
Spencer was later flown to UT Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
Detective Jake Wilson is in charge of the investigation.
