Local National Day of Prayer Events Slated for May 2, 2024

From WRIL The Big One -

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

In the Tri-State area, several observances of the day are taking place on Thursday May 2nd. In Middlesboro a gathering will happen at noon at the city parking lot near Middlesboro City Hall. Pineville will be conducting their event, also at noon, on the second floor of the old court house. Barbourville will have their observance on town square at noon combined with the "prayer on the square"assembly. In Claiborne County citizens will come together at Harrogate City Hall at noon and Tazewell Municipal Park from 4pm to 5pm.

The National Day of Prayer exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families.
