From Laurel County Sheriff's John Root -
Early Friday morning February 26 2021, at 1:58am, Laurel Sheriff's Lieut. Chris Edwards arrested 44-year-old Freddy T. Humfleet of Echo Valley Rd., London.
This was after the Laurel County Sheriff's office received information from Whitley County Sheriff's Office that a female victim had been severely beaten by Humfleet apparently causing her to have a miscarriage of an approx. 10 week old fetus.
Sheriff's investigators traveled to the Humfleet residence off Echo Valley Road and conducted an investigation where they learned that he had allegedly struck the female victim with his hands, fists, and also with a wooden board causing severe bruising and cuts to her face, neck and body. Humfleet is also accused of choking the woman impeding her normal breathing.
The female victim showed Sheriff's investigators where the alleged fetal remains had been buried in a small blue metal container, covered with rocks and a small commemorative stone placed on top.
As the investigation continued, Sheriff's investigators also found Humfleet in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine and a glass pipe.
Freddy T. Humfleet was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center charged with fetal homicide – third-degree; assault – second-degree; strangulation – first-degree; possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond has not been set yet.
