Loyall man arrested after attempting to disarm a Harlan County Deputy - Other arrests reported

Christopher Blanton - HCDC

On Sunday, March 24th, Deputies Caleb Carmical, Chris Hickey and Harlan PD Captain Mitch Alford responded to an active domestic violence call in Loyall.


Upon arrival a male, identified as Christopher Blanton, was verbally screaming and kicked Deputy Carmical then attempted to disarm the deputy of his duty weapon as he was being taken to the ground. Deputy Carmical was able to pull Blanton's hands off his duty weapon.


Christopher Blanton was arrested by Deputy Carmical and charged with Assault - 3rd Degree - Police Officer, Wanton Endangerment - 1st Degree - Police Officer, Disarming a Police Officer (Attempt), Resisting Arrest and Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess.


In Harlan County Sheriff's Department other activity:

On Thursday, March 21st Deputies made contact with a male subject staggering in the roadway while patrolling in the Coldiron community. Through the investigation it was determined the subject was impaired and suspected methamphetamine was found along with uncapped syringes on the subject. The subject attempted to resist arrest but was quickly apprehended.


Chad Collet of Richmond, KY was arrested by Deputy Josh Lewis assisted by Deputy CJ Reed and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance - 1st Degree Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Resisting Arrest and Public Intoxication.


On Wednesday, March 20th while on patrol around midnight, Deputy Caleb Carmical made contact with a male subject who attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. Through investigation it was determined the subject had an active warrant out of Harlan Circuit Court. Through search incident to arrest suspected methamphetamine was located.

Gregory Smith was arrested by Deputy Caleb Carmical and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree Methamphetamine as well as with a Harlan Circuit Court bench warrant.


On Monday, March 18th, Deputy Caleb Carmical conducted a traffic stop while patrolling the Coldiron community. Through investigation it was determined the subject was impaired and placed under arrest for DUI. Suspected controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were located on the subject. Due to medical reasons, the subject was cited to court and transported to a medical facility.


Charles Howard was charged with DUI, Careless Driving, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess and with several traffic violations.

Mason Farley was arrested by Deputy Jacob Rich on a Harlan Circuit Court Indictment for Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance - 2nd Degree and Promoting Contraband 1st Degree.


Caitlin Winn was arrested by Deputy Josh Lewis in Coldiron and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance - 1st Degree Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree Fentanyl, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess.


Sabrina Asher was arrested by Deputy Chris Hickey on a bench warrant from Jessamine County for Theft By Unlawful Taking.


Tamara Weller was arrested by Deputy Caleb Carmical for DUI, Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess, and traffic violations.
