Man found on roadway injured tells KSP he was beaten and robbed

KSP Public Information Trooper Shane Jacobs tells WRIL that a Bell County man reported to KSP Post 10 officials he was allegedly robbed and assaulted on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 near Middlesboro.


We reported that the man, now identified by Trooper Jacobs as 46 year old Ricky Lee of Hulen, was found just south of Faith Temple Church on Highway 25E at approximately 11:00am.


Jacobs said, “The victim was reportedly riding in a truck with three other men, when they assaulted him with a stick and stole $100 cash from him.”


Ricky Lee was transported by ambulance to the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital where he refused further medical treatment.


At this time the three suspects have not been located. Trooper Roy Pace is continuing this investigation.

We are following a report of an injured man discovered along the side of the road by someone passing by. The man was found just south of Faith Temple Church on Highway 25E and told an eye witness that someone gave him a ride, robbed him, and threw him out of the vehicle.

He was found just minutes after 11:00am this morning.


Middlesboro Fire/EMS has taken the injured man to Middlesboro ARH for treatment of injuries sustained from the incident.


Kentucky State Police are in charge of the investigation and searching for those the victim described as his assailants.
