From WRIL -

Middlesboro Fire Chief Robert England reported in a Facebook post that approximately 7:49pm Wednesday, June 29, 2022, the Middleboro Fire Department was dispatched to an industrial work site with an employee injury located at the Middleboro Country Club.

Chief England stated that once crews were one scene it was discovered that the man had fallen into a drill cellar and received critical traumatic life-threatening injuries. Due to those injuries and the individual being located in a confined space, a technical rescue was implemented with life-saving emergency care being provided simultaneously.

After approximately 45 minutes, the man was removed from the confined space area, other life saving treatment was performed, and he was transported to an awaiting helicopter to be transported to a level one trauma unit. The individual was still in critical condition prior to being flown out.

Chief England asked in the post that the community pray for the injured person, their family, and co-workers. He also personally thanked his crews for the quick response, professional care that was provided, following training, and requesting other resources to assure the the best possible outcome. This included thanking Middleboro Police Department Officers, Middleboro Dispatch, Bell Co Rescue Squad, and Air-Evac 33 for their response to mitigate this call.
