A Bell County Grand Jury has indicted a Middlesboro man for trying to kill his cousin in January of this year.

On Saturday night January 25, 2025, Middlesboro Police began a search for an individual involved in an assault of a family member.  This was after Middlesboro Officer Rossi had been dispatched to an Avondale residence over a 911 hang-up call around 8:40 pm.

As the officer arrived on the scene, two vehicles were observed leaving the residence, a black Chevy Cruze and a light blue Chevrolet pickup truck.  The officer was able to see a woman with her face covered in blood inside the Cruze.  A traffic stop was then made on the vehicle and during the stop and Rossi states that the woman began yelling for help. She was seen with several lacerations to her forehead, face, and nose.  Her eye was swollen shut and she had a broken arm and finger.

The woman stated she and her cousin, 58-year-old Quinlan Miracle Jr., argued when he became enraged, grabbed a baseball bat, and beat her with it.  She stated she was able to get away when Quinlan went into the kitchen, and she ran from the house to her car and left.  Quinlan, in the light blue truck, fled the scene when the victim was pulled over. She was later flown to UT Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

On scene, officers found blood evidence in several areas, more of the victim’s bloody clothes, and the bat Miracle used in the attack.

After a social media post was made looking for Miracle, he was found on Highway 72 in Hulen, Ky. the next day by Bell County Sheriff Sgt. Austin Poindexter. Miracle had tried to flee the area on foot. After a checkup at Pineville Community Health Center, he was booked in the Bell County Detention Center charged with Attempted Murder.

The indictment reads: Count I - Attempted Murder with the intent to cause death of (the victim) by striking her multiple times with a metal baseball ball, fracturing her skull, and other serious injuries to (the victim), while inside the residence at Avondale Avenue in Middlesboro, Kentucky.
